Meet Nadia (she/her)

Welcome!

I am here to help you get your physical, mental, and emotional health on track so you can feel your best.  You can feel better!

Life has become much busier for most of us since I began practicing more than 25 years ago. Familiar responsibilities such as raising a family, caring for aging parents, work/life balance are complicated by information overload, cell phones, emails and social media. It doesn’t leave us with much time or energy to take care of ourselves, eat well or do what we love. Many people feel stressed, anxious, inadequate, exhausted and their health suffers.

I believe that by simplifying things, we can make space for healing and for what is important in our lives. Even small changes can make a big difference in how we feel over time. As your Naturopathic doctor, I will guide you with simple and realistic steps and strategies so you can take better care of yourself and reach your health goals.

Most health info available on the internet misleads us to believe that there is one simple fix that works the same for everyone. It’s just not true. I will work with you to figure out what is true for you and your unique body to create long lasting health.

My Story

When I was a university student studying Biology and Psychology, I had a health scare that changed how I think about my health and how I choose to take care of my body. I was only 20 years old when I found a lump in my breast. It was surgically removed, and for weeks after my surgery, I anxiously awaited the results. I still remember my follow-up appointment clearly. Waiting for the doctor, I was dressed in an open-backed robe while sitting on the examining table that was covered with crinkly paper that made noise every time I fidgeted. The doctor came in and gently gave me the news: not cancer.  Instant relief.  I asked him: what’s next?  He said: that’s all, we’re done – but come back if you find another lump.

I remember the feeling of lightness and relief but I also felt shocked and empty. While I was truly grateful for the skill and care the surgeon provided, It didn’t seem like enough to me to just watch and wait. I wanted to know what I could do to prevent future health issues. I wanted to take charge of my health and I was willing to work at it.

I was already interested in food and nutrition, so I went to the library (this was 10 years before Google, after all) to learn all I could about nutrition and healthy eating. During this process I found out about Naturopathic medicine and that the only school in Canada (at the time) was in Toronto where I lived. I was studying science and psychology in university and when I read that Naturopathic medicine considers the whole person – body and mind, I knew immediately I had found my calling.  I would learn how to help myself and others by going to Naturopathic school.

I am grateful for the opportunity to do something that I love. I feel honoured every time a person shares their story with me and entrusts me with their health care. It is fulfilling and humbling to help people get their health and life back.

A little more

I believe that life is to live and enjoy. No one is perfect including me and that is good enough. I strive for balance.  I can be a bit of a workaholic because I love learning. I get recharged by spending time outside in nature, puttering in my garden or cuddling my cute cats. I also love to cook and have fun with family and friends.
