Have you been told that all your tests are normal or that your symptoms are probably just from stress or aging? I would like to give you a second opinion about your health from a Functional Medicine perspective! I agree that most people who feel unwell do have normal bloodwork results… but I look at your bloodwork differently. Normal ranges have nothing to do with optimal health. By the time something shows as abnormal on your bloodwork, you could already have some disease or pathology going on. I look for tell-tale changes before they get to the point of you getting an actual disease or pathology. As a Naturopathic Doctor, I assess how your body systems and hormone systems are functioning – preferably before you get to the point of having a diagnosable disease.
Do you already have abnormal bloodwork readings or a medical diagnosis? We can work on those things too. Much of what I do can be done in conjunction with your medical prescriptions or treatments.
Functional Bloodwork Analysis
Most people who come to see me don’t have medical training, so, understandably, tell me “I have no idea what all of this means” when they bring me copies of their bloodwork (you can ask your doctor for a copy of your results for your own records whenever you get bloodwork done). I look at your bloodwork from a Functional Medicine perspective. I can assess how different systems of your body are functioning even when the results are normal and there is no diagnosis or disease. I look at what is optimal (not just normal) and what is not, in order to help us understand what is going on with your body.
SIBO Testing
Do you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)? Up to 80% of IBS may be caused by something called Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and this is something that we can test via a simple breath test. This test is especially useful for people who have tried different diets and treatments for their digestive issues without much long term success. People often tell me that it is such a relief to find out that their symptoms aren’t just from anxiety or stress but that there is actually an accumulation of bacteria in the small intestine… AND that it can be treated.
